Penne Pasta:

  • 12 ounces penne pasta, cooked al dente

Chicken:

  • 3 cups cooked chicken breast, shredded or cubed

Sauce:

  • 2 cups marinara sauce

Cheese:

  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese

Breadcrumbs:

  • 1/2 cup seasoned breadcrumbs

Seasonings:

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Garnish:

  • Chopped fresh basil for garnish (optional)


Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven: Preheat the oven to 375°F.
  2. Cook pasta: Cook the penne pasta according to package directions, drain, and set aside.
  3. Mix ingredients: In a large bowl, combine the pasta, chicken, marinara sauce, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, and half of the Parmesan and mozzarella cheeses. Season with salt and pepper, then transfer to a greased baking dish.
  4. Add toppings: Sprinkle the remaining cheeses on top. Mix breadcrumbs with olive oil and sprinkle over the casserole.
  5. Bake: Bake uncovered for 25–30 minutes until golden and bubbly. Let it rest for 5 minutes before serving. Garnish with basil if desired.

  • Rotisserie chicken works great for this recipe.
  • You can use any short pasta if penne is unavailable.
