Scale
Filling
- 2 cups cooked chicken breast (shredded or chopped)
- 1 cup Alfredo sauce (store-bought or homemade)
- ½ cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- ¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese
- Salt and pepper to taste
Bread and Topping
- 4 sub rolls or hoagie rolls
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter (melted)
- 2 cloves garlic (minced)
- 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley
- ½ teaspoon Italian seasoning
Instructions
- Preheat oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) to prepare for baking the subs.
- Prepare filling: In a mixing bowl, combine the cooked chicken, Alfredo sauce, mozzarella cheese, Parmesan cheese, salt, and pepper. Stir thoroughly until the mixture is well blended.
- Slice rolls: Carefully cut a deep slit down the center of each sub roll, making a pocket but not slicing all the way through to keep the roll intact.
- Stuff subs: Spoon the chicken Alfredo mixture generously into each sub roll, filling the pocket evenly.
- Make garlic butter: In a small bowl, mix melted unsalted butter with minced garlic, chopped parsley, and Italian seasoning to create a flavorful garlic butter.
- Brush the subs: Brush the garlic butter mixture over the outside of the stuffed rolls, paying special attention to the top and sides for a delicious crust.
- Bake: Place the stuffed subs on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake them in the preheated oven for 12 to 15 minutes until the bread is golden brown, crisp, and the filling is hot and bubbly.
- Serve: Remove from oven and serve warm. Optionally, offer extra Alfredo sauce on the side for dipping.
Notes
- For extra cheesy subs, sprinkle additional mozzarella on top before baking.
- Rotisserie chicken makes a convenient shortcut for the filling.
- These subs pair excellently with a fresh side salad or roasted vegetables for a complete meal.
