Ingredients
Scale
Rice:
- 1 cup long-grain white rice
- 2 cups water or chicken broth
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
Cheese Mixture:
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Chopped parsley for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Cook the Rice: In a medium saucepan, bring the water or broth and salt to a boil. Stir in the rice, reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 15–18 minutes or until the liquid is absorbed and the rice is tender. Remove from heat and let sit covered for 5 minutes.

Notes
- Use freshly shredded cheese for the best melt and flavor.
- You can substitute brown rice—just increase the cooking time and liquid according to package directions.
