Ingredients
Scale
Big Mac Sauce
- ½ cup mayonnaise
- 2 tablespoons dill pickle relish
- 1 tablespoon ketchup
- 1 teaspoon yellow mustard
- 1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar OR white distilled vinegar
- ½ teaspoon paprika
- ½ teaspoon onion powder
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- ¼ teaspoon salt
Hot Dogs and Toppings
- 8 bun-length beef hot dogs
- 8 hot dog buns
- 2 tablespoons butter, melted
- 2 tablespoons sesame seeds
- 16 slices American cheese
- 2 cups shredded lettuce
- Dill pickle slices
- Finely diced white onion
Instructions
- Make Big Mac Sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, dill pickle relish, ketchup, yellow mustard, apple cider vinegar (or white distilled vinegar), paprika, onion powder, garlic powder, and salt until fully combined. Set the sauce aside to let the flavors meld.
- Cook Hot Dogs: Cook the beef hot dogs using your preferred method such as grilling on a grill pan over the stovetop, frying in a skillet, or on an outdoor grill. Cook until they are heated through and have grill marks or browning on the outside.
- Toast Buns: Preheat the oven broiler and place the hot dog buns cut side up on a baking sheet. Broil just until warmed through. Remove from oven, brush each bun with melted butter, and sprinkle sesame seeds on the buttered surfaces for a toasted, flavorful crust.
- Melt Cheese: Place two slices of American cheese inside each prepared hot dog bun. Return the buns to the broiler for 1-2 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and gooey.
- Assemble and Serve: On top of the melted cheese, add about ¼ cup of shredded lettuce. Place a cooked hot dog on top of the lettuce. Tuck 3-4 dill pickle slices alongside the hot dog, then sprinkle finely diced white onion over it all. Drizzle generously with the Big Mac special sauce. Serve immediately and enjoy the Big Mac-inspired flavor in hot dog form!
Notes
- You can substitute beef hot dogs with turkey or plant-based hot dogs if preferred.
- For extra flavor, lightly grill the buns before adding butter and sesame seeds.
- The Big Mac sauce can be made ahead and stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
- If you do not have a broiler, you can melt cheese in a microwave briefly or under a grill.
- Use fresh shredded lettuce for the best crunch and texture.
