Description

This Asian Salmon in Foil recipe offers a deliciously simple way to enjoy tender, flavorful salmon fillets infused with a savory honey soy marinade. Wrapped in foil and baked to perfection, the salmon remains moist and juicy, complemented by fresh green onions, sesame seeds, and cilantro. Perfect for a quick, healthy weeknight dinner or an impressive meal for guests.

Ingredients

Scale

Salmon and Marinade

  • 4 salmon fillets (about 170g each), skin on or off
  • 4 tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tsp grated fresh ginger
  • 1 tbsp fresh lime juice
  • 2 green onions, sliced
  • 1 tsp sesame seeds
  • Chopped fresh cilantro, for garnish
  • Aluminum foil for wrapping

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Set your oven to 375°F (190°C) to prepare for baking the salmon.
  2. Make Marinade: In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, honey, sesame oil, rice vinegar, minced garlic, grated ginger, and fresh lime juice until well combined.
  3. Prepare Salmon Packets: Lay each salmon fillet on a separate piece of aluminum foil large enough to fold into a sealed packet. Spoon the marinade evenly over each fillet, then scatter sliced green onions on top.
  4. Seal Foil Packets: Fold the foil over the salmon to create a sealed packet that traps the juices and steam inside.
  5. Bake: Place the foil packets on a baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for 15 to 18 minutes, or until the salmon flakes easily with a fork.
  6. Serve: Carefully open the foil packets (watch for hot steam), sprinkle the salmon with sesame seeds and chopped fresh cilantro, then serve immediately while hot.

Notes

  • Serve with steamed rice, noodles, or stir-fried vegetables for a complete meal.
  • For a spicier version, add a dash of sriracha or red pepper flakes to the marinade.
